Volockenspiel: Vogel + Glockenspiel

Volockenspiel is an enhanced version of Glockenspiel. It is made with a Makey Makey kit, a glockenspiel, and a Max program developed by me. It is designed so that playing on certain keys will trigger birds calling, ambient sounds, and live sound processing effects.

I always find the bell-like, high-pitched sounds produced by Glockenspiel resemble birds’ calling. They share the same purity in the timbre and frequency range. Through this project, I wanted to make an extended reality through playing Volockenspiel which transports people through space and time through playing.
